DRESS AND APPEARANCE GUIDELINES

All Saints’ Carden Academy requires students to attend school activities appropriately dressed and well-groomed. Rather than having a set uniform for students to wear daily, All Saints’ Carden Academy offers a uniform wardrobe from which students may choose a variety of outfits. Additionally, Fridays are “free dress” days, when students may wear non-uniform clothing as long as it meets the standards set below.

Uniform clothing must be purchased from Dennis Uniforms or Lands’ End only (with the exception of socks, shoes, and hair accessories). Parents should inquire at the office with any questions.

General Appearance Requirements for every day:

  • All clothes must be tailored, neat, clean, pressed, in good repair, and of correct size for the student. Oversized clothing is not permitted.

  • All shirts and blouses must be tucked in.

  • All shorts and slacks must be hemmed with no frayed edges. Jumpers, skorts, and shorts must be near to knee length.

  • Only uniform sweaters, jackets, or ASCA sweatshirts may be worn inside the classroom. Non-uniform sweaters, jackets, coats, and rainwear may be worn outside the classroom only. Garments made of fleece fabric are considered to be sweatshirts and may not be worn at school.

  • Footwear that poses a safety hazard is not acceptable; sandals are not appropriate school wear. All shoes with laces must be tied and all shoes must be worn with socks or tights. Students should select shoes that will enable them to participate in a full range of school activities. Shoes must be predominately white, brown, or black. Boys’ socks must be in solid colors of white, tan, red, or black. Girls’ socks, knee socks, and tights must be solid white, tan, red, or black. Both boys and girls must wear socks that cover the ankle and be apparent above the shoe.

  • No extremes in hairstyles will be permitted. Hair length, color, and styles are at the administration’s discretion.

  • Jewelry judged extreme, hazardous, or distracting is not acceptable. Earrings are not acceptable for boys. Suitability of jewelry is at the administration’s discretion.

  • Hats or caps are not considered part of the uniform. If hats or caps are worn on Non-Uniform days, they may be worn outside the classroom only.

  • No make-up or nail polish may be worn.

Children involved in outside organizations such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts may wear their approved uniforms to school on meeting days.

Classroom teachers discuss with individual students any issues related to these requirements. Major or serious infractions will be referred to the administration. The administration will notify parents of major concerns regarding student dress or grooming.
